The Van Gogh & Rembrandt exhibition in Amsterdam tells the story of how the two painters are connected, how Van Gogh was fascinated by Rembrandt and even inspired by him. The story is told through Van Gogh's letters to his brother (recited in English), as well as artwork by both artists.
Van Gogh and Rembrandt in Amsterdam is an immersive experience that will leave you mesmerized. A story told through light and sound, it is the first son-et-lumière (light and sound) show to be displayed on such a scale inside a national monument.
The show uses the entire interior of Noorderkerk, from the walls to the rim, as a stage, creating a 360° moving canvas. Inside the church, you'll find yourself surrounded by sunflowers, angels and flowers as you experience the admiration Vincent van Gogh had for Rembrandt van Rijn.
History unfolds around you, as you lie on the comfortable poufs or take a stroll through the church. You will see and hear how Van Gogh found inspiration in the paintings, prints and views of the great master Rembrandt.
