Description

Total immersion in the Accademia Gallery and in the art of Michelangelo to know his most renowned work, the 'David', and other important works of art such as "I Prigioni" and "San Matteo" and the 'Palestrina Pietà'. The young Michelangelo carved the David from a huge block of rough marble in three years, creating an imposing sculpture of absolute beauty, an icon of the renaissance model. He depicted a magnificent nude young man at the height of his physical vigor, whose intense expression of strength and courage, which originated from an absolute faith in God, roses as a symbol of power and invincibility of the Florentine Republic at the time of its maximum splendor.

The visit continues with the discovery of the Medici district, where you can admire the monuments that the members of the famous Florentine family themselves admired everyday with their own eyes: the amazing palace where they lived, the ancient San Lorenzo Church and the Medici Chapels, their mausoleum.

A few steps away you will find the marvelous Duomo monumental Complex: the Baptistery with its golden 'Porta del Paradiso', the Cathedral with the famous Brunelleschi Dome and the elegant Giotto bell tower.

The tour NEXT goes through the characteristic streets of the medieval district where Dante and Beatrice lived and where you can also admire the imposing and unique Church of Orsanmichele, a masterpiece of Florentine Gothic art, adorned with the statues of the patron saints of the powerful medieval trading guilds. You will also discover the picturesque Straw Market: don’t forget to rub the nose of the famous 'porcellino' (pig).

The tour continues with a walk on the romantic Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence, with its sparkling jewelers and finally you will arrive in Piazza Signoria, one of the most beautiful squares in the world dominated by the majestic Palazzo Vecchio with the embattled tower of Arnolfo, one of the most famous symbols of Florence. The square is a real "open-air museum": the imposing Fountain of Neptune, the perfect copy of Michelangelo's David and the Loggia dei Lanzi with its ancient Roman statues and the masterpieces of Cellini and Giambologna will leave you breathless!

Cumple y sobra

No podría haber salido mejor.

Not to be missed

We picked it from the photos and it was even better in person. We paid noticeably less than other options and the experience was just as good. Of the whole route, Curiosities and Anecdotes is what I remember most.

Excelente

Foi o melhor dia da nossa viagem a Florencia. Aprendemos mais sobre a cidade em algumas horas do que lendo três guias. Florença foi uma surpresa, não estava nos nossos planos. Obrigado pelo dia que nos proporcionaram.

The kind of thing you still remember years later. We got a brilliant guide, full of facts and good humour. Of the whole route, Galeria da Academia is what I remember most. The price is honest for what you get. We would book again.

Much better than I had imagined. Curiosities and Anecdotes alone makes the trip worthwhile. For what is included, the price is more than fair. Do it early, fewer people and much better light. Thank you for a great day out.
