Gaisberg with panorama view - Purple Line
The tour takes you from the city center in 30 to 40 minutes to the Gaisberg, the main mountain of Salzburg. At 1287 m above sea level, it is the highest point in the city of Mozart and it is one of the northern limestone Alps. You will pass by the St. Peter’s Monastery, which was founded around 696. You will also drive the Schallmoos main road along the Kapuzinerberg, together with the Festungsberg and Mönchsberg. You will see the Schloss Neuhaus, which was in the possession of the archbishop since the 13th century. Then you will drive through the district of Gnigl, and will be directed to the 1043 m high rock of the Nockstein, before you reach Guggenthal. It is located at the foot of the Gaisberg and means 'look into the valley'. After reaching the top, you can see the ruins of the historical brewery Guggenthal, enjoy the spectacular mountain panorama and the wonderful city view.

Best day of our stay in Salzburgo. You could tell it was properly organised. Bring a light jacket, the weather turns quickly. Easily one of the best things we did.

Nos fuimos conformes. Todo el trámite fue digital, no tuvimos que imprimir nada. Nos tocó un guía muy amable, aunque el grupo era grande y no llegaba a todos. La parada en Salzburg fue lo que más nos gustó. En hora pico el tránsito estira bastante el recorrido.

A good pick if it is your first time in Salzburgo. Great that ticket for public bus lines 1–28; 151 (Gaisberg Mountain Bus) for the date of the tour was included. You cannot miss Salzburgo. The only thing is that the pre trip information could be clearer about the meeting point. Still recommended.
